Rescue Golf Equipment for Relief When You Get in Trouble

There is a golf club which has garnered quite a lot of attention of late that assists in getting away from problematic spots a good deal easier. The hybrid club, also referred to as the rescue golf club, serves two noticeable purposes to the golfer: They make it less difficult to hit the ball as opposed to using the long irons as well, and they allow us to extricate ourselves out of tough locations 150 yards and greater away from the golf green. Every golfer should have at minimum one of those golf clubs in his bag, and as I age and have taught myself the way to make use of them I'm adding them more frequently.

The makeup of a hybrid club gives it much of the feeling as the fairway wood but with a number of exceptions. It has a hollow metal or titanium head that is designed to compress the ball to some extent at contact, then when it returns on the way to its original shape will cause the ball to get a springing affect off the golf club face. That will be the major rationale why hybrid golf clubs take the place of as opposed to complement long irons, which do not grant this impulse relating to the ball.

The main explanation they are called rescue clubs, though, is their ability to allow you to play a tricky shot and actually do something to advance the ball appreciably and not simply knock it from trouble. One occurrence is where trees may be involved. Because with the shorter shaft of the hybrid club, you will not need as much space in which to swing the golf club as utilizing the lengthier-shafted fairway woods or long irons.

One more enormous help will be hitting the ball that is somewhat buried in the rough. While the fairway wood, owing to its larger and less streamlined club head, is meant to skim across rather than cutting into the turf to produce a divot, the hybrid purpose lets you get down into the rough in order to dig it out. That's never to say you are able to retain total command over the ball or be able to hit it an ideal amount, as obviously you won't have the capacity to. However your likelihood of getting more of the club face into the golf ball is going to be greatly improved.

When I first started using the club, I tried to work with a comparable swing as with a fairway wood, but it didn't succeed favorably. I saw a lot of improvement as I applied simple golf swing basics much like striking an iron. Flight path is going to normally be higher than either the fairway wood or long iron because of its greater loft, and so for that reason and also because there will probably be greater backspin on the golf ball, forward momentum after the golf ball lands on the ground will in general be minimal in comparison with the other golf clubs. This not surprisingly will facilitate more aggressive golf shot-making at certain moments, as the lack of "roll" is going to allow for greater control.

This is even now considered a new class of club, and consequently design isn't ruled by any normally accepted rules. Most come within similar guidelines, as it appears the manufacturer's intentions were to succeed in a design that served a needed function, which explains what this club was designed for. It has continued to help me to enhance my game even as my golf club velocity has lessened.

Woods still stalled on 2011 plans

According to his official website, 35-year-old, 14-time major winner is still contemplating how best he can satisfy captain Fred Couples's demand that he play in one or two Tournaments and proves his fitness before the US Presidents Cup team is selected in late September.

"Right now, I'm looking at my options," is Woods's latest comment on his website

As things stand, the only full-scale tournament on Woods's calendar between now and the Presidents Cup in Australia is the Australian Open at Sydney's Lakes Golf Club from November 10-13, which is only a week before the Presidents Cup

That's more than a month after the Presidents Cup team has already been announced and Couples says that simply turning up at the Australian Open won't be good enough for the 35-year-old Woods to get one of his captain's wildcard picks.

"I am insisting that every member of my team plays in the Australian Open, sure, but it certainly won't be good enough for Tiger to show up there (without having played in any other tournaments) and expect to play Nike Victory Red TW Forged Blade Irons in the Presidents Cup," Couples said.

Woods has already turned down an invitation from tournament chairman Colin Montgomerie to play in this week's Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles and poor form and leg injuries have seen to it that he has failed to qualify for the four-event FedEx Cup play-offs staring this week with the Barclays or for the up-coming HSBC Champions tournament in China.

His remaining options are Europe, Asia or the low key US PGA Fall Series, a four-event circuit developed for those players who have missed out on the FedEx Cup and need to earn some extra dollars to hold on to their PGA Tour membership in 2012.

The first of these is the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open at TPC Summerlin, starting on September 29.

Woods's commitment to play Nike Victory Red TW Forged Blade Irons in a one-day charity exhibition match for long-time friend Notah Begay III on August 31 hardly counts as a tournament of the kind Couples is referring to and Woods has yet make up his mind about where he goes from there.

"Right now, I'm looking at my options," he said on his official website this week.

Woods has made it clear that he remains keen to be part of the United States' Presidents Cup team for the November 17-20 fixture against the International team at Royal Melbourne, but because the team is something else he won't be able to qualify for automatically as he always has in the past, he is going to be relying on Couples.

"I've had some conversations with Fred (Couples), and we'll see how it goes," said Woods, who is now down to 36th after missing the cut at the PGA Championship (Nike Victory Red TW Forged Blade Irons)

"Of course, I want to be on the team. It's always fun to play for your country, and we did pretty well two years ago in San Francisco. I'm just going to keep practicing and try to get better. It's Freddie's call, and he can make any choice

Something else Woods needs to resolve is his search for a new full-time caddie following his decision to let Steve Williams go.

"I haven't decided on a new caddie yet, but am definitely thinking about it a lot," he said.

"There's a few guys I'm looking at, but it all depends on timing. At this point, I'm in no hurry to make a decision."

Nadal toyed with a switch to golf

Nadal, according to an Associated Press report published ahead of the launch of the book in the USA on Tuesday, says he was so devastated and "without an appetite for life' after he was sidelined with a foot injury he thought might end his successful tennis career, that he toyed with the idea of moving into professional golf.

The 25-year-old Nadal says his toughest on-court battles were with Roger Federer at the 2008Wimbledonfinal and the subsequent Australian Open. but he makes it clear that some of his off-court problems took their toll and played a large part in his career.

The mental anguish he felt over his parents' separation hindered his recovery from injuries in 2009, when pride led him to try to defend his French Open title despite being physically hindered . (Nike SasQuatch sumo2 5000 Driver )

But his lowest point seems to have been when doctors discovered a congenital bone problem in the bridge of his left foot soon after a five-set victory over Ivan Ljubicic inMadridon a tough indoor surface.

Nadal said that joy was soon replaced by 'a state of deepest gloom".

The "diagnosis had initially been like a shot to the head," he says.

"The bone still hurts me. It remains under control, just, but we can never drop our guard."

Nadal admits he wept then just as he did after losing the 2007Wimbledonfinal to Federer.

But he did not cry on the flight fromMelbournein 2009 when his father Sebastian revealed to the recently crowned Australian Open champion that he had separated from Nadal's mother.

"My attitude was bad. I was depressed, lacking in enthusiasm. Something had to give," Nadal says.

Those problems, he claims, led to his only defeat in seven appearances at Roland Garros and his subsequent withdrawal fromWimbledon.

"My knees were the immediate reason, but I knew the root cause was my state of mind."

Mental toughness, instilled by his coach, uncle Toni, is a key theme of the book.

Nadal sees it as being one of the major factors behind his ability to bounce back as he did when he secured his firstWimbledonvictory in three attempts against Federer.
